Streptococcus thermophilus

  • Medical benefits

Continuous experiments and researches developed a strain of S. thermophilus that is even better than in its natural state.  Due to this improved strain, the texture and the taste are consistent. It is also responsible for resilience to bacteriophage and constant fermentation.

A study performed in Adelaide, Australia in 2009 showed the beneficial effects S. thermophilus TH-4 has in treating rats suffering of mucositis, a side effect of chemotherapy drugs. The treatment proved to be efficient and the healthy cell function normalized in the affected areas. It was also noticed an important reduction of distress to the intestines’ tissue.

S. termophilus also has positive effects on those who consume it, causing a decrease in the probability of having infectious diarrhea and breast cancer. Animal tests have shown that tumors diminished their size when physicians implemented Streptococcus thermophilus.
